Senior's Ministry

The Fifty and Beyond group has officially changed our name to more accurately reflect our primary purpose and to not be age-specific.  We are now the Seniors Fellowship.   We are also involved in Service Projects and Benevolence.    We meet the 1st Monday of the month in the Fellowship Hall.  Fellowship normally begins at 7:00 p.m. with a short business meeting.  In March, June, September and December the meeting is preceded with a potluck dinner at 6:00 p.m.

We also have social activities beyond the meeting night and beyond the church property.  Social activities after our meetings have included Bingo, Bunco, Minute to Win It, and our annual Christmas gift exchange.  We have taken the Lake Norman Sightseeing/Dinner Cruise, toured the Childress Winery followed by a great meal there, eaten family-style at the Hillbilly Hideaway, enjoyed a trip to Grandfather Mountain followed by a tour of Camp Linnhaven (Lutheran) and dinner at the Dan’l Boone Inn, toured Old Salem during the Christmas season, attended the Dinner Theatre in Wytheville, Va. for a performance of “Christmas in New York”, and recently attended the “Bodies Revealed” exhibit that is touring the country.  More trips are being planned for this year.

Our Service Projects include one-time and on-going activities.  We decorate the sanctuary for Christmas each year (and then un-decorate later).  We also make sure the candleholders and candles are ready for the Christmas Eve service. We are responsible for the Ash Wednesday dinner each year. We are active participants in the Preschool Snacks Program. We participated in the cleanup at the Lutheran Home in Winston-Salem and have cleaned our own Church kitchen many times. We just concluded a Flower and Craft Sale in conjunction with the Men’s Group Yard Sale.  We have purchased a new file cabinet for the church archives, new communion cups, and a substantial part of one of the new stained glass windows.  We have also donated money to the Packages for Military, Angel Tree, Family Promise, flowers for the Lutheran Home, and for the Ecuador Mission Trip.

We won’t ask about your age so if you are interested in  finding out more about us please attend one of our meetings!  Contact: Ed Bowman 993-5102.
